Mrs. Bowron takes visitors around the Arboretum and her enthusiasm for the gardens is obvious. She started with slides of winter and the Winter Gardens were a particular feature. The Garden Club did have an outing to see the Winter Gardens a few years ago and it is amazing how much colour there is in the barks and foliage, and occasional blossom even at that time of year. She progressed then through the seasons, with very good slides from the Arboretum’s Library, pointing out the special features that one should look for in each season. There were some old slides and it was interesting to see how the gardens have changed over the years.
Hilliers Arboretum is really quite near to the Meon Valley and I am sure that Mrs. Bowron’s talk inspired many to make another visit there.
