Talk on Herbs by Penelope Ody

Penelope Ody came to the Garden Club to give a talk on Herbs. When she was booked she said that she could not talk to a Garden Club, as she did not know much about growing, but did know about the use of herbs.  She was told that this would be of interest to members, and so it proved.  She gave a fascinating talk on the herbal and medicinal use of herbs, much of which was very new to most of us. So, for instance, we learnt that, an infusion of sage leaves helps to ward off Alzheimer’s, which is very useful to know.  She demonstrated various processes for herbs, such as creams or waxes as well as teas.  It was very enjoyable to have a practical demonstration and talk without the usual slides.
