MINUTES OF 2010 A.G.M. Read and agreed.
MATTERS ARISING The 2010 accounts were audited by Ian Dyson.
TREASURER'S REPORT Current Account £2 029.36. Reserve Account £3 557.94. Cash held £42.19 Total Funds £5,629.49. There was a deficit on the year of £85.85, but in view of the fact that a number of items had been purchased, it was felt that this was acceptable. The full balance sheet is on file.
MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY'S REPORT 17 new members have joined during the past year and 2 have now joined for 2012. Our membership now stands at 230. An all time record.
WEB SITE MANAGERS REPORT It was not possible to deliver this. Changes are being made to the system, and the web site manager has been unable to access the site. As soon as he is able, he will publish his report on the website.
CHAIRMAN/SECRETARY'S REPORT Another extremely good year. The small financial deficit is of no concern, we are financially extremely healthy. There has been a good range of talks and visits, with the coach outing to Savill Gardens being a great success. Visits to Wisley no longer seem to attract as much interest as in the past, and accordingly this has been dropped from the 2012 programme. Nearly 100 people now attend the barbecue, but the hard work of preparing the salads is all done by the committee. In future therefore, the Club will supply the cooked meats, rolls and desserts, but members will be asked to bring their own salads. The cost will be maintained at £5.00. Jill Austin has for many years undertaken catering at the Summer Show, but would like to be relieved of this task. There are many helpers on the day and Jill will willingly help her successor(s) through the first year.
Thanks were extended to all non-committee members who work so hard. To Mike Camp for the web site, to Ruth and Ken for running the plant sales, Lynn And Janet for the raffles, Josie and Ian Dyson for publicity, Beryl Owen as Welfare Secretary, John Owen for helping with Show admin, Barry Austin for sharpening members tools, the male chefs at the barbecue, Rhona and Hazel for tea making at various functions and Derek Gamblin for supplying plants for members classes. Apologies to anybody missed. Particular thanks were expressed to Bob and Corinne Solen for hosting the Coffee Morning and to Joan Dunn for the use of her garden for the barbecue. Also, to Lesley and Denise the Show secretaries for the mammoth task that they undertake.
Corinne is leaving the committee. She has been a stalwart for many years and will be greatly missed.
And thanks to all committee members who work so hard to keep the Club running and to all members who come along and participate.
In conclusion, a great deal of time, paper and ink could be saved if the various letters throughout the year could be emailed to members. An appeal was made to members who have an email address to pass this on to the secretary.
2012 PROGRAMME Details of meetings and visits planned for 2012 were given to the meeting.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS Before asking for nominations, the President congratulated the Club on an outstandingly successful year. He made the point that whilst many local societies were closing down ours was going from strength to strength.
With the exception of Corinne Solen who is resigning from the committee and Caroline Harris who is joining the committee, all officers and committee members were re-elected. Caroline was proposed by Lynn Gutteridge and seconded by Mike Camp.
A.O.B. Jill Austin thanked all who had helped her with the catering, but emphasised that she really did wish to retire.
The meeting was followed by wine and nibbles and a "Leaf Quiz" organised by Rosie Frere Cooke.
