Coffee Morning in John and Beryl's garden

26 April 2008

Saturday 26th April 2008 turned out to be a perfect day for this event, with comfortable sunshine, tempered by light and broken cloud, with a cooling zephyr.

A good cross section of members enjoyed the atmosphere of a very pleasant garden, well designed, and stocked with a large variety of plants and shrubs, with some small ornamental trees. Many of the plants were in flower and looked very pretty.

Under the shade of a gazebo, two tables of plants, and one of home made cakes and other delicacies, created a lively trade. Old and new members were able to enjoy a good chat around the several tables and chairs in the garden whilst enjoying a cup of tea with biscuits.

The club raffle ticket enforcer did a sterling job, very few participants escaped without the purchase of many investments. There were no complaints when the prizes were drawn.

Several members helped John and Beryl during the morning. Those setting out the teas and coffees were kept very busy. One volunteer for setting up and taking down the gazebo managed to turn up just in time to fit one peg only during the putting up, and entirely missed the taking down! But he did not miss the social drink for helpers after the main event.

The finances of the club have benefited by the sum of £178.00 from the noble efforts of all concerned, particularly John and Beryl.
